Steube Filed a Later Impeachment Resolution. That Is a Second Paper.

Rep. Greg Steube’s office published a press release announcing a resolution impeaching John McConnell, Jr., Chief Judge of the District of Rhode Island, for high crimes and misdemeanors. The release states that on June 5, 2026, McConnell issued an order in Dorcas International Institute of Rhode Island et al. v. United States Citizenship and Immigration Services et al. vacating a USCIS policy framework that paused asylum applications and certain immigration-benefit requests. Steube’s quoted words: “Judge McConnell put the interests of noncitizens seeking immigration benefits above the national security of the United States.” Those words are his.

RedState reported the filing date as June 9, 2026, and treated it as a second Republican impeachment effort, separate from the Clyde freeze-case resolution. This site has not retrieved a Congress.gov bill number for the Steube paper as of August 26, 2026. The Fact is the office announcement. It is not H.Res. 241. It is not a House vote. It is not a Senate conviction.
